Stundom

Inspired by the traditional dance music from its Nordic ancestors, Stundom invites you into a wondrous immersive world, and mixes folk traditions with classical chamber music and modern symphonic elements. With a blend of the violin, the cittern, and the piano, Emma Kragh-Elmoe, Villads Hoffmann and Julian Svejgaard share a unique musical chemistry and ability to create capturing melodies.

Stundom is one of the most acclaimed groups of New Nordic Folk Music in Denmark today, and the trio has been nominated for the Danish Music Awards Roots/Folk several times, e.g. "Artist of the Year" and "Album of the Year" at Danish Music Awards Roots in 2024 and 2022. In 2022 Emma, Julian and Villads were all separately nominated as "Composer of the Year" as well.

In 2015, Emma Elmoe and Villads Hoffmann started the duo Elmoe & Hoffmann in Copenhagen as a part of the young, growing Danish folk music scene, and soon thereafter, they won the "New Talent" prize at the Danish Folk Music Awards. In 2017, the duo were joined by Danish folk pianist Julian Svejgaard for the recording of their debut album Vandkanten, and the duo became a trio, changing their name to Stundom, which is an old Nordic word for ‘from time to time,’ a reflection of the mission of the trio; to create new music in the present, inspired by the times that went before, for the times that will come.
