There are many ways to get involved at the Gallagher Bluedorn. From volunteering time to joining our Friends group to coming to a show, there is something for everyone.
Gallagher Bluedorn is proud to be working with over 200 volunteer ushers, who contribute countless hours to ensure events at the Gallagher Bluedorn run smoothly and safely.
Our volunteer ushers also enjoy the perk of being able to work and watch the performances for free. In addition, Gallagher Bluedorn provides ushers with training once a year, an invitation to attend the annual Preview Party each spring, invitations to the annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic, as well as early ticket ordering opportunities.
Usher Responsibilities Include:
- Scanning tickets
- Distributing show programs
- Assisting audience members to their seats
- Quickly walking through the theater after performances to pick up programs
Volunteer ushers must have outstanding customer service skills and be able to follow their safety & security training to assist patrons in an emergency situation.
This role requires you to be on your feet and able to move up and down stairs. Some light lifting may be required. Volunteer hours vary depending on the show, but on average the time commitment is approximately four hours per shift.
The usher staff is currently at full capacity, however the Gallagher Bluedorn does keep a waitlist for those who are interested. Please contact Chris Kremer by emailing Chris.Kremer@uni.edu to have your name added to the waitlist.
