911Ten years ago the world changed in an instant as a terrorist attack demonstrated our vulnerability and tenuous nature of life.  Ten years later we come together as a community to remember those lost, honor servicemen who have sacrificed in war and most of all seek a way forward inspired by courage and love.

This special collaboration between the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, Metropolitan Chorale, Red Cedar Chamber Music and Strayer-Wood Theatre will feature a unique mix of memorial music coupled with multimedia and dramatic readings on the evening's themes. Highlights of the program include Vaughan Williams' moving meditation on poetry by Walt Whitman and a classic American requiem, the Fourth Symphony of Howard Hansen.

Join us as we remember, honor, heal and celebrate those lost and look to the future.

highergroundThis year's "Reaching for Higher Ground" project will provide a year-long opportunity to memorialize and examine the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, the impact of those attacks on the last 10 years and the development of a path forward. This project will provide many opportunities for the campus and community to think critically about what happened, examine preconceptions, evaluate multiple perspectives and discuss where we are as a result.
