Director's Letter
Ten years of artists. Ten years of laughter. Ten years of dancing. Ten years of music. Ten years of one-of-a-kind experiences that enrich your life and inspire your soul. I’m not a big fan of anniversaries –preferring to keep my eye focused on the far horizon and my mind beyond even that. Still, milestones provide us an opportunity to reflect on our own experience and appreciate the things we have.
The Gallagher-Bluedorn actively seeks to serve our community and state and you are the place that service takes place. The rubber hits the road at the experiences we share; the beauty, the inspiration, the escape and the fellowship of a great performance. We’ve worked particularly hard to create a milestone season, one that honors where we’ve been and where we’re going. Take a moment to reflect on the shows you’ve attended over the last 10 years. Not just the names, but the performances themselves, the thrill of discovering something new, the delight of a familiar performance brought to our intimate and acoustically perfect concert hall. After taking a moment (it helps me to close my eyes, so open them), take a look at the season we put before you. I think the same things that brought you joy over the last 10 years are there and if you think about what you liked then, you will make great decisions now.
I’d ask you to consider one other thing. Try a few experiences you haven’t had before. Celebrate human creativity and the performing arts. Whether you try a show you’ve never seen or come to one of our 10th anniversary events, dive a little deeper into the Gallagher-Bluedorn. I think you’ll find the water refreshing and the company good.
