The most-recorded ensemble in classical music, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields made its Gallagher-Bluedorn debut during the 2001-2002 season. Founded in London in 1959 by Sir Neville Marriner and 10 other musicians, the orchestra spearheaded the Baroque revival of the 1960s and has won many prestigious awards, including two Oscars, numerous Grammys, and several gold recordings. They are particularly well known for their Mozart recordings, including the multi-award winning soundtrack to the film “Amadeus.” |
