Grade five student Tess Jared is obsessed with how she looks. When it comes to looking perfect Tess is willing to go to any length and things are getting out of control. Her brother Josh is starting to get worried. He wants to help her. He knows he needs to tell someone Tess’ secret to save her, but there is one small problem: Josh has a secret of his own and if he helps Tess everyone is going to know about “the skinny lie”. Being true to who you are and not how you look and placing the value of friendship and concern for others over your own immediate self interests are discussions fostered by this new work by an important new voice on the theatre scene.
