Braidie knows that to be a teenager, even to be a little kid, is to often see very hideous behaviour from your peers. For years Braidie's best friend has inflicted cruel and painful harassment on another classmate.
Now, from the television and the papers, Braidie finds out about a shocking case in a nearby city: a teenager murdered by another youth. Could this happen here? Could Braidie's friend become a killer? And if Braidie just stands by and lets it happen, will she be guilty too?
With wit, honesty and profound insight, Governor General Award winning playwright Joan MacLeod pulls us into a tough and complicated teenage world; a world where loyalty to a friend can have tragic results.
BEYOND THE PERFORMANCE
IN-SCHOOL ARTIST EXPERIENCE: “Teaching Green: Building Character Through Found Object Art” with Barbara Bianchi – Grade 4-8
-In this residency, students work individually and in teams to create an art assemblage using a hot glue gun and old junk they bring from home. Trained in the language and concepts of CHARACTER COUNTS! Through the Arts, professional artist and arts educator Barbara Bianchi creates a fun and exploratory environment for students to find new value in discarded objects and new ways of thinking about themselves and their environment. The simple art activities put emphasis on respect for the earth as students become more informed of the impact that trash has on our environment. Students of all skill levels can be successful in making a Found Object Assemblage.
