Savion Glover

From his Broadway debut at age 12 to the 1996 Tony Award for his choreography in “Bring in Da’ Noise, Bring in Da’ Funk,” Savion Glover has single-handedly revitalized the art of tap dance.

His rat-a-tat feet still dazzle, his body sweats with intensity, his facial expressions are as vivid as ever, his moves still define what tap means today. Yet this is a new-style Savion - Classical Savion®. Thin you’ve heard Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”? Not if you haven’t heard it tapped out through metal-clad soles of this maestro. Backed by a string ensemble, Mr. Glover shuffles, flaps, hops and ball-changes to music ranging from Back to Mendelssohn to Bartók, bringing a new understanding to the phrase “classically trained”.

“He’s the greatest tap dancer ever to lace up a pair of Capezios or any other tap shoes,” said the late Gregory Hines.
